accomplished

Yes, we were very busy this weekend. On saturday night after the boys were in bed matt & i put up 17 dozen corn. It's all now safely in the freezer for use this winter and for easy meals when we have company.

On saturday I watched the boys and matt worked on building eli a swing set!!!!! Isaac is modeling it for you.
Here's eli this morning helping his daddy put on the finishing touches.
First time swinging on the new swingset! So proud of a handy man!

our friday

So I took the boys grocery shopping this morning, which I must say is rather a feat. I park as close to a cart corral as possible, load the boys up at the car, shop, unload the boys & groceries, then take the cart back. One of my main obstacles when shopping is that Eli has to ride in the basket so he likes to play with all the food we're getting. Luckily today I kept him away from the eggs by distracting him with the lentil package. :) And I do have to say, he really is good about not touching food I tell him not to.
After we got home from Kroger & Walmart (yes, we went to BOTH stores) eli ate and napped. During nap time today I finally got around to canning the tomatoes matt has grown. Here they are all red and pretty sitting on the counter.
And here they are all red and pretty crushed up and sealed in jars. We got 4 quarts out of what has ripened so far, but it was easy enough, although rather time consuming, so I'll be canning more as they ripen.
Yesterday during nap time I spent my time obsessing over recipes and new ideas for healthy snacks. So today I made this homemade granola and let me just say it was E-A-S-Y! Only 30 minutes and I got about 6 cups!
Now I don't have to spend $3 on a box of this.
That was my friday. Well, I also vacuumed, cooked dinner, did a load of laundry, and various other tasks, but you get the idea. :)
Tomorrow Matt is starting on a swing set for eli...yeah!

just look at those legs

They're so squishable, eatable, and gooey! There's nothing like a sleeping baby (with fat legs) to make your heart melt.
And yes, that is a mosquito bite on the BOTTOM of isaac's foot. Poor baby. He got attacked in the house of all places. I think we can thank his big brother for being as slow as molasses getting in the door! Hehehe.

solids success!

So Isaac WILL NOT eat squash, sweet potatoes, or bananas in any form: mushed, liquefied, chunky...lots of crying involved when trying to eat those yummy, sweet, delicious foods. But he WILL eat lentil soup and have a smile on his face while doing it. Silly boy!

our weekend with RaRa

Friday night dinner-- homemade PIZZA. A Phillips family favorite.
Eli helped of course.
And Isaac chilled and read the paper.
---------------------------------------
Saturday night dinner-- corn on the cob! An obvious Eli favorite (who knew).
And Isaac fell asleep. His newest will-not-eat-solids tactic.
Bring on Sunday.

chattanooga children's museum

So last Saturday we went with our church's "Mommy and Me" group to the Chattanooga Children's Museum. It was a great museum and had something for everyone- even Isaac! Eli thought he was big stuff- got to eat lunch with the big boys and then explore the museum with mommy as his personal chaperone. Enjoy the museum in pictures!

rainbow

A couple of days ago we had a perfect summer rain shower. No thunder or storm but a 20 minute cool rain. Matt had taken the boys out for a walk and got caught in the rain. I went out in the car to see if they needed me to pick them up and I found the 3 of them smiling and happily walking (soaking wet) in the rain so I let them finish their walk. After the rain passed we had a beautiful rainbow which looked like it ended just over the trees. What a simple joy of life.

july 4

So since Matt was off Monday for the holiday we took the boys to Burgess Falls to play and look at the river. We stopped on the way there at the MMKM Produce stand for some ice cream (oh and corn and peaches too). They have a bargain on ice cream cones- $1 for a huge dip. Eli thoroughly enjoyed the cone and was about as neat as an almost two year old can possibly be. Love it!

what i've been up to

Painted this side table black. It was stained a nice brown but had a lot of water rings and scuff marks on top. Now it looks brand new!
My big project is to "redo" our master bath. This included painting the vanity white, painting the walls and wainscoting, and giving everything a GOOD cleaning. We were also going to tile the floor with the leftover tile from Mark & Diane's bathrooms. Unfortunately we were just a few tiles short so the linoleum remains for now.
Here's some before pictures.

And here's the after. The walls before were a yellowish color and now they're khaki.
Yesterday I slip covered matt's work chair. The seat cushion had come off so I fixed it and recovered the seat and the back. It used to be an "office" blue color as seen in the next picture.

I really DO NOT like doing upholstery work! I am reaffirmed on this feeling after only a 2 hour project.
Today during boys' nap time I made Peach freezer jam! Enough said!
And now for my best project of all- get Eli up from his nap and be his mommy!!
