Isaac is first up to bat

it's definitely summer....

...which means you pick blackberries! At least if you're a Phillips that's what it means.  :)   So when Matt's parents visited last weekend we did just that in the back of our field.  The boys did good for a while, then managed to eat their weight in blackberries, followed by a ride in the wagon by O'Pa.  

 The berries are now blackberry jelly and if you're REALLY nice to me you might just see some as a gift or if you visit, on some toast.  Mmmmmm....delish!

 And this is what we did last night after the boys were in bed....picked a gazillion green beans and snapped them.  They are now safely tucked away in the freezer for future meals. :)

Last night Eli helped me make cookies to take to my ladies Bible study.  On my way out the door (with plate of cookies in hand) he said worriedly "MOMMY, you can't take the cookies!!"  Oh the things they notice. :)
Btw, I did leave him some.

he's nearly a big boy

We've begun the first step in turning Eli into a big boy: sleeping in a big boy bed.  We've had Matt's childhood bed for about 12 years so we got it out of the attic, cleaned it up a little and bought a new mattress, and voila-- the perfect hand-me-down bed!  Eli helped his daddy put it together and on Monday night he slept in his very own big boy bed for the first time (or boy-boy bed as eli calls it).  So far so good! 

Next step: big boy undies!
