NINE months old

My sweet baby is nine whole months old today! (sniffle sniffle) I mean seriously people where has the nine months gone too, it's September for crying out loud! At any rate I've been a bit neglectful in showing you all Isaac's awesome crawling skills so here you go. The little squishable boy in action :)

we love to camp

So I am officially reaffirmed in my love for camping.  We had an A-W-E-S-O-M-E time camping this weekend with our friends the Auths on Center Hill Lake.  Yes we had 5 kids ages 6 and under (and 1 dog) and everyone was in great spirits.  This was Eli's 2nd time to camp and Isaac's first and I must say that we'll most certainly take them again- I think the boys were born to be outside.  

Some trip highlights: Eli catching his very first fish!!!!, boys taking naps in the trailer(!), Eli going down the twisty slide on the playground all by himself, Amberly's delicious cooking, throwing sticks in the fire (very supervised for you grandparents who were worried), Eli checking the road for cars before crossing to the Auth's camp, Isaac and Brooklynn playing in the tent together, good friends enjoying fellowship.

It's a momentous day....yes, after two years this play mat is going in the attic. Eli was still playing with it when Isaac was born, and Isaac only played with it for a couple of months.  I guess it had become such a fixture of my living room I didn't even notice it wasn't getting any play time.  As of today, it's waiting in the wings [aka attic] for some future baby play time (diane maybe?).

 

Diane, this video is for you.  At lunch today (without prompting) Eli started saying Aaron's name. Too funny!

At lunch today Eli exclaimed "MMMMMMMM mac & cheese, MMMMMMMMMM banana, MMMMMMMM turkey".  The kid was excited to eat.

The boys are happy to be home. They've played and played all morning long.  We had a super great time visiting family over the weekend and are especially glad we got to go to cousin EV and cousin CL's birthday parties.  Happy 3rd and 1st birthdays girls!!  (got some great pics which will be on facebook at some point in the future)

christmas in september

So for the past two days after reading this page Eli has asked for his "snowmen".  He would say "please, please mommy, snowmen. please, please mommy push the button snowman". 

Now I put these snowmen up in the attic about 6 months ago, but Eli obviously remembered he used to have some snowmen.  So today I got them down.  He then spent the next 25 minutes straight pushing the button on both snowmen to make them sing at the same time! Nothing like listening to a 2 year old sing "we wish you a merry Christmas" in September.  Maybe he'll love Christmas time as much as his mommy. :)

I might also note that the snowmen are his new bff's.  Eli shared his "O" cereal with each snowman, the doggie, and penguin then said bye bye and hugged them before nap time.

weekend of fun

My parents (aka Gram & Poppa) came for a visit this past weekend and played and played and played with the boys. Everyone loved it- Gram and Poppa got exclusive Eli and Isaac time and Mommy and Daddy got some much needed together time and relaxing time. Here are some of their adventures: playing at the park, Fall Funfest in downtown Cookeville, and outside time in our backyard.

We broke out the finger paints Aunt Gloria sent for Eli's birthday. (great idea to send the egg carton for the colors Glo!) And in typical Eli style, he was very serious and tidy about his art.

Now I have a masterpiece for my wall!

enjoying the final weeks of summer

We spent some family time in the backyard yesterday. Isaac on the blanket and Eli in the water hose. There's something about being outside that puts everyone in a good mood. I'm trying to enjoy these last weeks of warm weather (okay HOT weather....it's 95 out today) before it turns chilly and that definitely involves running around naked and playing with water! One of the benefits of living in the country.

Matt hung another swing so now both boys can swing at the same time. Hours of boy entertainment.
