bowling

On Sunday night our church rented a bunch of lanes at the bowling alley and a whole slew of people went for bowling, bingo, and food.  It was loads of fun for all- matt bowled with the boys, esther was passed around then napped, and mommy visited with friends.  

I only got a few pics and they're not the greatest because after I took these few I had about 10 people tell me i wasn't supposed to use my flash- Oops!  

After bowling the kids played in the arcade area. It was perfect because they thought they were really playing the games (Eli was taking his race car driving very seriously) and the area was a dead end, so no toddler escaping!

daniel tiger in legos

Our very favorite show on TV is a new one on PBS called Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood.  It's a spin of Mr. Roger's neighborhood and has some of the same characters.  We save our "tv time" until 10 o'clock just so we can watch it. Such a great show b/c today Daniel and his friends learned what to do when they feel angry....take a deep breath and count to four.  Exactly the kind of thing a 3 year old and a 2 year old need to be reminded of. :)

Today after watching, Eli decided he was Daniel Tiger, Isaac was Prince Wednesday, and Esther was Katarina Cat.  

Then while playing legos , Eli built the trolley Daniel Tiger rides on...

 Isaac built Prince Wednesday's castle...

 and Eli built Katarina Cat's house in the tree.

a little tuesday night fun

Last night Matt took Isaac out for a little one-on-one daddy/boy time.  They went to eat and then the horse sale.  I thought why can't Mommy & Eli have a little fun as well.  So we did!

Eli got to have pizza (normally reserved for friday nights).  He topped the pizza with pepperoni and cheese himself.  He was so proud.

 Then we made chocolate chip cookies. As we were rolling them into balls I noticed he was eating one.  He said very seriously... 'it just asked me to eat it'.

Esther, btw, was home with us. She slept through the fun.

trophies and a nap

At the hospital when you have a baby they give you a large cup with a lid and straw so you can drink tons of water.  I have seen each cup as a sort of "i've had a baby" trophy and held onto all 3 of them with an intense emotional connection.  Last week as I was cleaning out the kitchen cabinet I realized all 3 of them were in there taking up space and hadn't been used since the kids came home from the hospital.  I explained to matt my predicament about not wanting to get rid of them and my weird emotional attachment to them and such so he suggested I should put them on the mantle in front of the footprints as a little token until I'm ready to part with them.  I said Great Idea! So that's where they now are.  Who knows if they'll ever make it to Goodwill or not, probly just back in my cabinet!

And this has nothing to do with cups & straws, but this morning Isaac piled eli up with as many pillows and blankets as he could find.  Then Eli said, "Isaac, now you can leave so I can take a real nap".

Lucky for this mommy a real nap is just around the corner. :)

thursday

Eli has discovered a love for matt's tools.  I had to limit the pliers use to the bar b/c he kept trying to "pick stuff up" that he shouldn't (like his brother).

Esther is napping oh so peacefully in her swing.  I added the pillow on top one day for an extra bit of  pressure and now Isaac thinks she can't sleep without it. :)

And this poor boy is a sickie today.  After sleeping til 9:30 he sat and watched tv for 3 hours (unheard of for him).  When he decided to get up and play he was still so tired he had to lay down to play legos.  Poor guy. (He's currently sleeping again)
