artsy eli

You are looking at one of Eli's newest hobbies: carrying his musical caterpillar on his shoulder like a juke-box. He holds it up with one arm to his ear so he can hear the music playing better- and he walks around like it's the most normal thing in the world!

I did it- I took 2 children under 18 months on a walk today :) We only went to the end of the road and back....I didn't want to press my luck. It must've worn Isaac out- all that laying he did in the stroller- because he's been sleeping for the past 2 1/2 hours! Tomorrow I'm taking both boys to the doctor for Isaac's one month check-up. Say a small prayer for me at 10am.
Here's my genius, book-loving son. This is his 2nd newest hobby- sitting in the recliner by himself with a lap full of books. And I'll have you know that he actually turns the books correctly so he can start at the first page....of course I would expect nothing less from the son of a former reading teacher!

the week in pictures

My mom (aka Gram, aka GaGa if you're 17 months old) has been visiting us this week. This means she does all my regular work (cooking, feeding eli, picking up toys) and I've been tackling other various household chores and napping :) We have LOVED having her here this week and can't wait for her next visit!! How about staying another week Gram???

Here the little boy is helping Gram cook by lining up some spices she can use.
This is my first attempt at getting Eli to smile on command. I pulled a Gloria-- "show me your teeth". Fake smile but super cute.
And yet another "show me your teeth" smile- this one looks more genuine. Notice he's modeling Bala's boots. (by the way Bala, they're his favorite shoes. Whenever he sees them he brings them to me so he can wear them!)
Here's a daddy with his 4 week old clone.
Eli and brother. We managed to get Eli to sit still for oh about 4 pictures.
Giving brother a kiss.
Hanging out post-bath.

eli the science kid

So Eli's favorite show is also the 2nd most annoying show on PBS- "Sid the Science Kid."
The show in itself isn't so bad; the characters explore and observe all things science. What IS bad are the voices of Sid and his friends. It's like the show's creators said, "let's find some adults who make THE most annoying 5-year old voices and we'll hire them to do our show." They succeeded.
This morning at 10 I said "Eli, wanna watch Sid?", handed him two stuffed animals, turned on the TV, and this is what he did. Super Cute-- guess it's a good enough reason to tolerate Sid. :)

*note: the 1st most annoying show is Caillou

eat, play, award

So I am hoping we are officially OVER the stomach bug!! Let me just say how much I dislike cleaning up the stuff, not to mention that now everything smells like sour milk. Not an odor my nose appreciates. Needless to say when I get my carpet cleaner back from being borrowed, several things will be receiving a thorough cleaning.

Eli is definitely making up for a week's worth of lack-of-appetite- he had 3 breakfasts morning before he took an 11am nap. Let's just say after oatmeal, eggs and toast, 1/2 a banana, Kix, and cheese slices I cut him off and told him it was time for a nap :)

Also a special job well done goes to my sweetie husband who received an award at work (cool certificate and money) for working so hard! Way to go Sug!!! I'm proud of you.

my two sweetie babies- one chowing down, the other simply hangin

daddy playing with his boys last night
Eli- who LOVES ice with a passion- found this cup in our bedroom, took it over to the fridge and tried to get ice out!! I foresee the lock button being on very soon.
Me making matt pose with his cool certificate.
Funny anecdote of the day: Isaac didn't sleep well last night so Matt took both boys for a couple of hours this morning so I could get some extra sleep. He then proceeds to tell me with really wide eyes, "They're a handful!" I simply said, " I know. That's why the dishwasher isn't unloaded" Then smiled inwardly. Love validation.

Isaac Matthew

It's hard to believe but my Isaac is 3 weeks old today!! Here are a few from the past week (check my facebook page for lots more). Unfortunately, we've had the stomach bug while Aunt Ami was visiting so I didn't get any pictures while she was here :(

high five

Here are some of today's happenings
------------------------------------------------------------

Eli is getting his first power tool lesson from daddy. He is after all an expert button pusher.

Here is dream baby that I birthed. This is what Isaac did while we got Eli ready for bed.
And this is what he did while we ate dinner. Seriously, the child only cries for food and diapers. Hope he keeps it up!!
Here's my firstborn sweetness eating a snack with daddy on the futon. Love the one sock on, one sock off.
And this is what Eli had learned this morning when I got up.
